The TSSA is seeking a Manager, Data & BI to join our team.

The Manager, Data & BI is accountable for the direction, development, implementation and ongoing sustainment of the Data Management Strategy and Business Intelligence (BI) practice for the organization. Leading efforts in data design, integration, quality and governance, the Manager, Data & BI works closely with subject matter experts in the business, technology and analytics teams to establish the organization’s data platform with Business Intelligence capability and tools. 

The Manager, Data & BI has a strong, hands-on background in implementing and managing data repositories (e.g. Data Lake) and Business Intelligence solutions, while possessing strong analytical abilities.  He/She is an accomplished relationship manager and is comfortable partnering, negotiating and influencing stakeholders (internal and external), including Program Sponsors, Steering Committees, Senior Leadership Team, other delivery Managers and vendor partners. The Manager, Data & BI has a problem-solving mindset and a project management orientation.
  
Job Description  


Data Management and BI Leadership:
  • Create and execute plans to realize the data management and governance vision defined by the CIO, which contains the following elements: data cleansing, data governance, data analytics, data refresh, acquisition of external data (structured and unstructured) and external data exposure.
  • Establish and ensure sustainment of data infrastructure, including interacting with vendors and internal infrastructure and application teams to complete the implementation and maintain a repository and reporting solution (e.g. Data Lake);
  • Facilitate adoption of a Business Intelligence solution through the organization;
  • Drive data projects and initiatives, including launching a project to enable front-line staff to view and update master data in the course of performing their activities;
  • Establish and enforce governance of data to ensure data is robust, complete, accurate and available, including identifying and supporting data stewardship across the business;
  • Support data analytics strategies (e.g. outcome prediction) by implementing machine learning techniques;
  • Develop and manage a team of developers and data experts;
    Requirements  
  • University degree or equivalent;
  • Certificates or proven experience in Data Management or Data Governance;
  • A minimum five years work experience in data and BI or similar roles;
  • Experience participating in at least one business transformation through data and/or analytics;
  • Experience with change leadership and managing a team and organization through the implementation of new capabilities and processes;
  • Experience leading teams and providing practical direction regarding data management, data integration, data warehouse techniques and tools;
  • Experience with Microsoft toolset (application, infrastructure and data);
  • Understanding of metamodels, taxonomies and ontologies, as well as of the challenges of applying structured techniques (data modeling) to less-structured sources;
  • Strong facilitation, presentation and communication skills, including with Executive level audiences;
  • Experience working with and influencing across multiple stakeholder areas
  • Expert level knowledge of Data Governance and Management principles;
  • Solid understanding of architecture and design principles for:  Data Integration, Data Lake, Reporting/BI, Dashboards;
  • Strong stakeholder management and communications skills;
  • Strong team management and communication skills; and,
  • Strong business analysis skills and ability to align solutions with business value
